Liberation day

This is a day off and a huge event for every family in Guam. There is a very, very big parade through the biggest street in Guam. People go and camp the day before to have a nice spot, they put up a canopy, and have a BBQ grill along and lots of cool drinks and chairs to watch the parade. The university helped with the recycling, so we went sitting at their canopy. High school students had a contest to collect the most can and plastic bottles. Linda, a neighbor teacher was leading it all! Good job boys and girls! Our boys watched the parade with big eyes. Emily, Penny and Neal joined us too. Bas was very happy to see Sammy the Shark. Ekko was so tired he fell asleep before we even started the car, he slept 3 hours in total.

Dit is een vrije dag en een groot evenement voor elke familie in Guam. Er is een hele grote stoet in de grootste straat van Guam. Mensen kamperen er al de dag voordien om een goed plekje te hebben, ze zetten hun canopy op, hebben een BBQ gril en veel koude drankjes en stoeltjes om naar de stoet te kijken. De universiteit hielp met de recyclage, dus gingen we vlak bij hun canopy zitten. Leerlingen van de middelbare school hadden een wedstrijd om het meeste blikjes en plastiek flesjes verzamelen. Linda, een buurvrouw die lerares is, leidde het hele gebeuren. Goed gedaan jongens en meisjes! Onze jongens keken naar de parade met grote ogen. Emily, Penny en Neal vergezelden ons ook. Bas was heel blij dat Sammy de haai ook mee deed. Ekko was zo moe dat hij al sliep voordat we de auto starten, hij sliep in totaal 3 uur.
