Bassies school

I thought it would be difficult for Bas to sleep at school because we stay with him until he sleeps, but what does this terrific school. The teacher lies next to his little bed (they all sleep next to each other on little beds) and stroke him until he sleeps. Isn’t that wonderful how nurturing they are? Sometime auntie Mary is holding Bas and carries him around. If somebody arrives that is doesn’t know he holds on to her. Here a few pictures from my previous website (sorry didn’t find the time to add them yet). Also a few from Bas and the cushion he received from moeke, a handmade bear. Very proudly he takes it to school.

Ik dacht dat het moeilijk zou zijn om hem op school te laten slapen omdat we steeds bij hem zijn tot hij slaapt; maar wat doet deze fantastische school. De juf gaat naast hem het kleine bedje liggen (het zijn allemaal kleine kampeerbedjes naast elkaar) en aait hem tot hij slaapt. Is dat niet ongeloofelijk lief, hoe ze hem daar koesteren. Soms kom ik toe en dan draagt auntie Marie hem rond. Als er iemand is die hij niet kent, houdt hij haar vast. Hier enkele foto’s die nog niet op de mijn vorige website zijn geraakt omdat ik het nog steeds niet heb aangevuld. En ook een nieuwe van Bas zijn kussen gekregen van moeke, een zelfgemaakt beertje. Neemt hij trots elke dag mee naar school.

All the kids. Because it is a Montessori school all age groups are together in one classroom. I like that philosophy a lot.
There are 3 teacher for 15 kids. Auntie Mary, auntie Sam, auntie Sill.

Al zijn klasgenootjes. Omdat het een Montessori school is zitten alle leeftijden bij elkaar in de klas. Ik vind dat reuzetof.
Er zijn 3 leerkrachten voor 15 kinderen. Auntie Mary, auntie Sam, auntie Sill.

So beautiful how they celebrate the birthdays. The birthdayboy walks around with a globe and all kids sing “the earth moves around the sun, 52 weeks, 365 days,” and each time they add a year and a special evnt. Really very special!

Prachtig hoe ze de verjaardag vieren. De jarige wandelt in een cirkel met kinderen met een wereldbol en ze “the earth moves around the sun, 52 weeks, 365 days, ...” and every time the add a year and a special event. Heel speciaal en bijzonder mooi.

On the Christmas party Bas was kind of shy for the performance (he is the youngest) so auntie Mary took him on her lab.

Op het kerstfeestje was Bas een beetje verlegen om op te treden (hij is de jongste), maar Mary nam hem op haar schoot.

Auntie Sam preformed in a cultural dance from Yap. Isn’t that cool, to a have a teacher like that?
